We wouldn’t recommend stepping foot on any water craft without first receiving adequate training at an RYA approved training centre. Most insurance, charter and flotilla companies as well as most EU countries have minimum standards, but before paying for expensive training schemes, which may not be suitable, think about what your personal requirements are. Ask us if you’re not sure.
Although the standard RYA Cruising scheme route of, ‘Start Yachting/Competent Crew’, and ‘Day Skipper’ is fairly standard these days, it relies on ‘getting practice’ between courses. However, in our experience, most people aren’t lucky enough to have access to ‘practice’ yachts, so these SailnetUK ‘6 Steps to Yacht Skippering’ aims to consolidate and bridge each stage with manageable, affordable, and relevant short courses.
SailnetUK is recognised for more training schemes than most RYA sailing schools, so by combining the best of our keelboat, cruising & theory training schemes, we have put together this comprehensive program (each step is individually certified in its own right) to becoming a competent & confident Yacht Skipper. Depending on previous experience you can jump in at any level.
